HOLIDAY POPS NEWS
The Kansas City Symphony will be performing my arrangement of "Ding Dong! Merrily on High" on their "Magic of Christmas" concerts, December 12, 13, and 14, 2008.
Also performing "Ding Dong! Merrily on High" is the Madison Symphony Orchestra, on their "Christmas Spectacular" concerts, December 5, 6, and 7, 2008.
The Cedar Rapids Symphony Orchestra will be performing two of my holiday pops pieces on their "Home for the Holidays" concerts, December 13, 14, and 16, 2008: "O Come, All Ye Faithful" and a newly commissioned piece, "I Saw Three Ships Come Fiddling In" (read below for more details about this new piece).
"I SAW THREE SHIPS COME FIDDLING IN" is my newest holiday pops piece. It's a fun and boisterous jig-like arrangement of "I Saw Three Ships," and it features the violin section in almost non-stop motion as they dance their way through the 2.5-minute piece. "BILL SACKTER" FILM PREMIERE WAS A SUCCESS
On June 7, 2008, a film that I scored last year had its world premiere at Hancher Auditorium in Iowa City, Iowa, with almost 1,200 people in attendance at the premiere of "A Friend Indeed: The Bill Sackter Story".
I was honored to receive a favorable review of my film score from Barry Morrow, a legendary Hollywood screenwriter who has won both an Oscar (for "Rain Man") and an Emmy Award (for the original "Bill" movie that aired on TV, starring Mickey Rooney and Dennis Quaid).
Barry Morrow was the primary creative consultant for "A Friend Indeed: The Bill Sackter Story," and he wrote the following comments about my film score:
"Peter's score for Lane Wyrick's documentary, 'A Friend Indeed,' reveals an artist working at the top of his craft. His thoughtful musical themes and deft emotional interpretations illuminate all the important beats in this heartfelt story, making the journey a magical one."
