DESCRIPTION OF CD

This is a professionally-made CD of the January 1998 Gala Concert in Hancher Auditorium that was held in honor of Doris and Bill Preucil on the occasion of their retirement from the Preucil School of Music, a renowned Suzuki-based institution in Iowa City, Iowa.

The "Remembrances" CD is 77 minutes long and features a variety of classical works, wonderfully performed by professionally active Preucil School alumni (including all four of Doris and Bill's children).

The CD ends with a piece that Doris Preucil commissioned me to write especially for this occasion:  My piece, entitled "Remembrances," is a lush and emotionally-stirring arrangement of two melodies, scored for string orchestra with harp and piano.

Doris Preucil asked me to arrange the following two pieces, both of which have special meaning for students and graduates of the Preucil School:

" 'Remembrances' is a favorite piece for my husband and me.  We sit on the porch on summer evenings and listen to it over and over.  There's something about the lush, full-string orchestration, enhanced by piano and harp, that makes it evoke deep feelings in the listener."
