Welcome to peterbloesch.com

Dear Visitor,

Greetings, and a warm welcome to my website!  Here you will find an overview of my varied work in film and television scoring, holiday pops arranging, concert music, and church music.  My music background is quite diverse, combining a classical-music upbringing with an immersion into the world of Hollywood film music, along with a healthy dose of pops arranging thrown into the mix.

All of these varied experiences have combined to create a style of composition that I believe is rather distinctive, one that blends a variety of styles and approaches.  For example...  Because of my intense love of Baroque music, a fugue might pop up unexpectedly in one of my holiday pops arrangements.  And thanks to my love of writing film music, my concert and church music often takes on a certain Hollywood flair.

But whether I’m writing a classical concerto; or arranging a holiday "jig" for flute, fiddle, and guitar; or providing the dramatic underscore for a film ― one thing remains constant:  I want everything I write to communicate something of meaning and value, and to do so in a way that blends artistic integrity with accessibility.

I invite you to browse my website and hear some samples of my music.  Thank you for visiting!

― Peter

Music has always been an essential part of who I am...

Music has been a lifelong passion of mine.  In this photo from 1973, I’m enjoying some intense but fun chamber music with my brother, David.  (I’m on the right, playing cello.)  David has gone on to become a wonderful violinist (among other things), whereas I have channeled my musical energies into composition.

I was thrilled to spend many exciting and productive years in Hollywood, working on a variety of film-scoring and pops arranging projects.  This photo was taken at a large recording session I had on the Warner Brothers Scoring Stage, with an orchestra of about 90 players.

Since my return to Iowa (and its cold winters!), I’m finding that I’m busier than ever with my composition activities:
I’ve written a large amount of concert and pops music in the last several years.  And thanks to the high degree of mobility and interconnectedness we enjoy in today’s world, I’m also able to continue my love of scoring films ― right here in Iowa!  After all, the recording studios of Seattle or Los Angeles are just a plane ride away!
